History of Bäriswil
Bäriswil was first mentioned way back in the year 861. It was called Perolteswilare then. This was when a place called the Abbey of St. Gall bought land and farms there. Later, in 1310, its name changed to Berolswile.
Archaeologists have found ancient Hallstatt era grave mounds in areas called Mittelberg and Kriegsholz. These mounds are like old burial sites.
From the 1300s, different important families from Bern owned the village and its lands. In 1720, a person named Hieronymus of Erlach bought the village. He combined it with another area called Hindelbank.
For a long time, Bäriswil was mostly a farming village. In the 1700s, it started to have some small factories. There was a pottery factory and a plant that sanded or cut things. Since the 1960s, Bäriswil has become a commuter town. This means many people who live there travel to work in the city of Bern. Today, the town's economy is mainly made up of small businesses and people who commute.

Bäriswil's Coat of Arms
The description of Bäriswil's coat of arms is quite interesting. It shows a black bear standing on its hind legs. This bear is placed on a silver shield with three red vertical stripes.
