DuckTales is a super fun animated Disney TV show. It's all about the exciting adventures of Scrooge McDuck, the richest duck in the world, and his three energetic great-nephews: Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The show first aired from September 11, 1987, to May 6, 1990, and had a total of 100 episodes. There's even been a movie and a spin-off TV show based on it!

What is DuckTales About?

DuckTales follows the amazing adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his great-nephews. Huey, Dewey, and Louie used to live with their uncle, Donald Duck. But when Donald joined the Navy, they moved in with their super-rich great-uncle Scrooge.

Scrooge is known as the richest duck in the world. He has more money than he could ever spend! But that doesn't stop him from always looking for ways to earn even more. He also spends a lot of time protecting his huge fortune from different villains. Many episodes follow similar exciting storylines:

  • Treasure Hunts: Scrooge often hears about an ancient treasure or a lost civilization. When he goes to find it, he usually gets into more trouble than he expected!
  • Business Adventures: Sometimes, Scrooge has problems with one of his many businesses. When he tries to fix it, he ends up on an unexpected adventure.
  • Crazy Inventions: Gyro Gearloose, a brilliant inventor, often creates new inventions. These inventions usually cause funny problems when they don't work right, or they get stolen and used for evil.
  • Losing Money: Scrooge sometimes loses all his money, often to the sneaky Beagle Boys. Then, he has to find a way to get it all back.
  • Rivalry with Glomgold: Flintheart Glomgold is another super-rich duck who always tries to be better than Scrooge. He usually tries to become the richest duck in the world himself.
  • Magica de Spell's Magic: Magica de Spell is a powerful witch who wants to steal Scrooge's very first coin, his "Number One Dime." She believes this special dime will help her create a magic spell to get huge wealth.
  • Past Adventures: Scrooge often tells stories about his younger days. These stories are full of exciting voyages and adventures from when he was building his fortune.

Back Out in the Outback

Someone is causing trouble at Scrooge's ranch in Australia. Scrooge, his manager, and Launchpad fly there to investigate. While exploring, they are attacked by strange light swords! Meanwhile, Webby gets lost in the jungle and falls asleep in the woods.

The next day, Webby and some animals find an opal mine. They discover that the ranch manager is the one causing all the problems! He wants to buy Scrooge's ranch and become rich. Luckily, Webby and the animals expose the manager, and Scrooge saves his ranch. When Scrooge asks Webby how she caught the bad guy, she says it was "group work."

Master of the Djinni

Scrooge McDuck and Huey, Dewey, and Louie go to the Sahara desert to find Aladdin's magic lamp. But Flintheart Glomgold is following them! The ducks find the lamp's secret vault. Scrooge and Glomgold rub the lamp at the same time. A djinni (a magical genie) appears! Since he can't tell who rubbed the lamp first, he decides they must have a race to see who wins his wishes. The djinni decides to live at Manor McDuck during the race.

While the djinni and the nephews go to the mansion, Scrooge fights off Glomgold's tricks, like a rock avalanche. Scrooge wants to win the race so Glomgold can't make his nephews poor. At McDuck's mansion, the djinni loves all the luxuries, like eating burgers, swimming in the pool, and watching TV. He likes it so much that he sends Scrooge and Glomgold back in time so he can stay free forever!

Scrooge and Glomgold don't know they've traveled through time. They keep running until they find a palace. The Sultan thinks they are spies and wants to feed them to crocodiles! But Schewebazade, the Sultan's young wife, saves them. They escape, and the guards chase them. Meanwhile, the nephews and Webby saw what the djinni did. They put him back in the lamp and only let him out when he agrees to bring Scrooge back from the past.

Just then, Scrooge and Glomgold return to the present. Glomgold finds a shortcut and wins the race! Scrooge returns to Duckburg only to find out Glomgold won. Glomgold's first wish is to send Scrooge to a desert island. By mistake, Glomgold uses his second wish to go to the desert island with Scrooge! On the island, Glomgold wishes the lamp was never found. This sends everything back to the moment the ducks first opened the vault. The explosion makes the lamp fall, and it stays hidden in the vault, never found.

Sweet Duck of Youth

One night, Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad return to Manor McDuck. Scrooge finds out it's his birthday, and his family has planned a surprise party! Scrooge is sad because he feels old. When Mrs. Beakley mentions the fountain of youth, Scrooge rushes to his library. He finds a book about "Ponce de Loon," a Spanish explorer who claimed to find the fountain of youth in Florida.

The next day, in Florida, the ducks are in a tropical forest. They meet an old man who is also looking for the fountain. After finding a map, they discover the Fountain of Youth! However, they learn that the fountain only makes their reflection look young. Scrooge goes home and realizes that getting older is a natural part of life.

Where No Duck Has Gone Before

One day at Manor McDuck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are watching their favorite TV show, "Ducks of the Galaxies." Scrooge buys the Duckburg studios, where the show is filmed. Scrooge asks Gyro to build a toy spaceship, but Gyro accidentally builds a real one!

The real spaceship launches the Captain, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Launchpad into space. They are captured by aliens! The nephews soon discover that the Captain is actually evil. Eventually, Huey, Dewey, and Louie make it back to Earth, where Scrooge punishes the Captain for his bad deeds.

Back to the Klondike

On Valentine's Day, Scrooge tells his nephews and Webby his only love story: When Scrooge worked at White Agony Creek, he went to the Blackjack Saloon. There, he met Goldie, a beautiful singer. After Scrooge lost his gold nugget to a villain named Dangerous Dan, he bet Goldie that she couldn't earn honest money. Goldie and Scrooge worked for many months to find a lot of gold. But Dangerous Dan stole the gold, and Scrooge mistakenly thought Goldie took it.

Scrooge and the others go to Klondike to try and get the lost gold back. Scrooge meets Goldie again, and their relationship is a mix of hate and love. Scrooge discovers that Dangerous Dan was the real thief. When he tries to tell Goldie, she discovers a new goldmine! Before the episode ends, Scrooge realizes that Goldie didn't steal his gold; she stole his heart.
