Bagnell is a small town in Miller County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, 43 people lived there. This number was lower than in 2010, when 93 people called Bagnell home.
History of Bagnell
Bagnell was officially planned out in 1882. This happened when the railroad tracks were built through the area. The town got its name from William Bagnell. He was from St. Louis County and ran a business that supplied wooden railroad ties along the Osage River. A post office opened in Bagnell in 1884. It stayed open until 1942.
Where is Bagnell?
Bagnell is located in the western part of Miller County. It sits on the north side of Little Gravois Creek. This creek flows into the Osage River, which forms the eastern edge of the town. The city of Lake Ozark is right next to Bagnell, to its southwest.
You can get to Bagnell by taking County Highway V. This road goes about 1 mile (1.6 km) southeast from U.S. Route 54 to the center of town. The city of Eldon is about 9 miles (14 km) north. Osage Beach is about 6 miles (9.7 km) south.
A very important landmark nearby is Bagnell Dam. This huge dam creates the famous Lake of the Ozarks on the Osage River. It is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Bagnell.
