Where is Balmoral Ridge?

Balmoral Ridge is about 82 kilometers (about 50 miles) north of Brisbane. It sits on the Blackall Range. This area is known as the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.

The northern part of Balmoral Ridge is next to the Baroon Pocket Dam. A special spot called Balmoral Lookout is on a high part of the range. You can find it along Maleny Montville Road. The Obi Obi Creek forms most of the western border.

The main road, Maleny–Montville Road, goes right through the area. It runs from the south to the north-east.

A Quick Look at History

This area was once simply called Balmoral. But in 1989, the local council wanted to make it an official place name. The Queensland Government worried it might be confused with another place called Balmoral in Brisbane. So, they officially named it Balmoral Ridge. This name helps people know it's a different place.
