Bettens is a small town, also known as a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's part of the canton of Vaud, specifically in the Gros-de-Vaud area.

History of Bettens

Bettens is quite an old place! The first time it was ever written about was in the year 1141. Back then, its name was spelled Betanis. A few years later, in 1149, it was mentioned again, but this time as Bectens.

Bettens covers an area of about 3.75 square kilometers (which is about 1.45 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 73%, is used for farming. About 15% of the area is covered by forests, which means lots of trees!

The rest of the land, about 12%, has buildings and roads. A tiny bit, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes. Most of the water in Bettens is in lakes.

Bettens is located to the east of the Venoge river. Until 2006, Bettens was part of the Cossonay District. After that, it joined the new Gros-de-Vaud district.
