Billy Crudup (born July 8, 1968) is a talented American actor. He has starred in many popular movies and TV shows. You might know him from films like Almost Famous, Big Fish, and Watchmen. He has also been in TV series such as The Morning Show, which won him several awards.
Billy Crudup is also a successful stage actor. He has been nominated for the prestigious Tony Award four times, winning once for his role in the play The Coast of Utopia. In 2023, he married British actress Naomi Watts.

Early Life and Education
Billy Crudup was born in Manhasset, New York. He is one of three brothers. When he was about eight years old, his family moved, living first in Texas and then in Florida. He finished high school at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1986.
After high school, Crudup went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he earned his first degree and continued to act with a student acting group called LAB! Theatre. He then went on to study acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned a special degree in acting in 1994.

Billy Crudup has had a long and successful career in both movies, television, and on stage.
Movies and TV Shows
Crudup started his film career in the mid-1990s. Some of his early movies include Sleepers (1996) and Inventing the Abbotts (1997). In 1998, he played the famous runner and Olympian Steve Prefontaine in the movie Without Limits. He also voiced the character Ashitaka in the English version of the animated film Princess Mononoke (1999).
One of his most well-known roles was as Russell Hammond, the lead guitarist of a fictional band, in Cameron Crowe's movie Almost Famous (2000). He also appeared in Mission: Impossible III (2006) and played the superhero Doctor Manhattan in the film Watchmen (2009).
More recently, Crudup has starred in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show. For his role in this series, he has won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Critics' Choice Television Award.
Stage Performances
Just a year after finishing his studies at Tisch, Billy Crudup made his first appearance on Broadway. This was in a play called Arcadia by Tom Stoppard.
He has been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play twice: for his role as the title character in The Elephant Man (2002) and for his part in The Pillowman (2005). In 2007, he won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in another Tom Stoppard play, The Coast of Utopia.
Crudup has also acted alongside famous actors like Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in plays such as No Man's Land and Waiting for Godot.
Other Work
From 1998 to 2005, Billy Crudup was the voice for the "Priceless" TV ads for Mastercard. He once said that these ads helped him financially, allowing him to choose the acting roles he truly wanted to do.
Personal Life
Billy Crudup has one son, William Atticus Parker, who was born in 2004. In June 2023, Crudup married British actress Naomi Watts in New York City. They had met while working together on the Netflix TV series Gypsy in 2017. In June 2024, they celebrated their marriage again with family in Mexico.
