Boden Municipality (in Swedish: Bodens kommun) is a cool place in northern Sweden. It's part of Norrbotten County. The main town, where the local government is, is called Boden.
In 1919, the growing town of Boden became its own city municipality. Later, in 1967 and 1971, other nearby areas joined Boden. This is how the municipality we know today was formed.

We only start to learn more about Boden from the 1500s. It was called Bodebyn or Bodarna. These names might come from the word bod, which means "shed". In 1543, there were seven farmers living here. It was also known that Sami people, who are native to this region, lived nearby.
