Bottens is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It's located in the canton of Vaud, which is like a state, and is part of the Gros-de-Vaud region.

Bottens is quite old! The first time it was ever written about was in the year 1142. Back then, it was called Botens.

Bottens is located in the Gros-de-Vaud region, southwest of the town of Echallens. The municipality covers an area of about 6.89 square kilometers (2.66 sq mi). Most of this land, about 72.1%, is used for farming. About 20.3% of the area is covered by forests. The remaining 7.7% is where buildings and roads are located.

The official symbol of Bottens is its coat of arms. It shows a black lion on a silver stripe, all on a red background. In fancy heraldry language, it's described as Gules on a bend Argent a lion Sable.
