Brot-Plamboz is a small town, also called a municipality, in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It is a quiet place known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Brot-Plamboz

Brot-Plamboz was first mentioned way back in the year 998. It appeared in old documents from a religious house called the priory of Bevaix. Back then, it was simply known as Broch.

The municipality we know today was formed in 1875. This happened when two smaller areas, Brot-Dessus and Plamboz, decided to join together. A few years later, in 1888, their local governments also merged.

Geography and Nature

Brot-Plamboz covers an area of about 16 square kilometers (about 6.2 square miles). A large part of this land, nearly 68%, is used for farming. About 28% of the area is covered by forests.

A smaller part, around 2.7%, has buildings and roads. There are also some rivers or lakes, making up about 0.2% of the land. The rest, about 1.1%, is land that cannot be used for farming or building.

Most of the water in Brot-Plamboz is found in its lakes. The municipality includes the main village of Brot-Plamboz. It also has two smaller settlements, known as hamlets, called Les Petits-Ponts and Le Joratel.

What the Coat of Arms Means

The coat of arms for Brot-Plamboz tells a story about the area. It shows a silver bridge on a blue background. This bridge is placed between the letters "B" and "P," which stand for Brot and Plamboz.

On one side of the bridge, there's a green pine tree. On the other side, there's a black stack of peat, which is a type of fuel from the ground. In the middle, you can see a rake, a fork, and a scythe. These tools are all silver and cross over each other. They represent farming and working the land.
