Callum James Hudson-Odoi, born on November 7, 2000, is an English professional football player. He plays as a winger for the Championship club Nottingham Forest.
Callum spent many years in the Chelsea youth academy. During his time there, he helped his teams win the U18 Premier League in 2017. He also won the FA Youth Cup two years in a row. His great performance in youth football led to his first senior team game in January 2018. Since then, he has played over 110 games for Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi also had a lot of success playing for England's youth teams. He was part of the squad that finished second in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. In the same year, his team won the FIFA U-17 World Cup. In March 2019, he made history by becoming the youngest player to play for the England senior team in a competitive match. This happened during a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against the Czech Republic.

Callum James Hudson-Odoi was born on November 7, 2000, in Wandsworth, London. He grew up there with his family. His older brother, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, is also a football player. Callum's father, Bismark Odoi, was a football player from Ghana. Callum went to Whitgift School in Croydon.

Starting Out at Chelsea

Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Chelsea in 2007. Before that, he played for Charlton Athletic. He played his first game for Chelsea's under-18 team in August 2016. In his first season, he scored eight goals in 25 games. He helped the under-18 team win their eighth FA Youth Cup.
After this, Callum moved up to the under-23 team when he was just 16. He scored four goals in three games during their EFL Trophy matches. This included two goals in a 2–2 draw against League One team Plymouth Argyle.
On December 20, 2017, Hudson-Odoi was first named in Chelsea's senior team for an EFL Cup game. He did not play in that match. On January 28, 2018, Callum played his first game for Chelsea's main team. This was in an FA Cup match against Newcastle United. He came on as a substitute in the 81st minute. Chelsea won the game 3–0 at home. His first game in the Premier League was on January 31. He came on as a substitute in a 3–0 loss to Bournemouth.
Playing More for Chelsea (2018–2019)
Callum had a great pre-season in 2018 under the new coach, Maurizio Sarri. The coach decided that Hudson-Odoi would stay with the main Chelsea team. He was given the number 20 jersey. On August 5, 2018, Callum started his first game for Chelsea. It was in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City. Chelsea lost that game 2–0.
On November 29, he scored his first goal for the senior team. This happened in a Europa League game against PAOK. Chelsea won that game 4–0 at home.
In January 2019, Hudson-Odoi helped Chelsea win an FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest. He set up both goals for Álvaro Morata in a 2–0 victory. There were rumors that Bayern Munich wanted to buy him. Chelsea's assistant coach and Bayern's director both confirmed this interest. On January 26, 2019, it was reported that Hudson-Odoi wanted to leave Chelsea. However, he still played in Chelsea's next FA Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday. He played the whole game and scored in a 3–0 win. Two days later, coach Sarri said that Hudson-Odoi would stay at the club.
In March 2019, Chelsea complained about bad behavior towards Hudson-Odoi during a game against Dynamo Kyiv. On April 3, he started his first Premier League game for Chelsea. He helped set up the first goal in a 3–0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion. He became the youngest player to set up a goal in his first Premier League start for Chelsea. He was 18 years and 146 days old. On April 22, 2019, Hudson-Odoi got a serious injury to his Achilles tendon during a game against Burnley. This meant he could not play for the rest of the season.
Returning to Play (2019–2020)

Bayern Munich tried to buy Hudson-Odoi again in the summer of 2019. Chelsea turned down their offer.
In July 2019, Frank Lampard became Chelsea's new head coach. Lampard said that Hudson-Odoi could become a "world-class player" at Chelsea. After a lot of talk about his future, Callum signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea on September 20, 2019. He later said he made the right choice by staying with the club.
On January 11, 2020, he scored his first Premier League goal. It was in Chelsea's 3–0 home win against Burnley.
Champions League Success (2020–2021)
Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal of the 2020–21 season on September 26. He came off the bench to score Chelsea's second goal in a 3–3 draw against West Bromwich Albion. Chelsea had been losing 3–0 but managed to draw the game. A month later, on October 28, Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League. He scored the first goal in a 4–0 away win against Krasnodar.
After Frank Lampard left and Thomas Tuchel became the new coach, Hudson-Odoi started playing more often. He started the first three games under Tuchel. Tuchel began to play him as a wing-back. Hudson-Odoi said this was a new position for him, but he felt good playing there. He was named the best player in Chelsea's 2–0 win against Burnley on January 31, 2021. He also helped set up a goal for César Azpilicueta.
On February 20, 2021, Hudson-Odoi came on as a substitute against Southampton. However, Tuchel took him off just 31 minutes later. Tuchel said he was not happy with Callum's effort. But Tuchel later apologized to Hudson-Odoi, saying it might have been unfair. Callum then started the next game, a 1–0 win against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League. On May 29, Hudson-Odoi was part of the Chelsea team that beat Manchester City 1–0 in the 2021 Champions League final.
Later Years at Chelsea (2021–2023)

On October 23, 2021, Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal of the season. It was in Chelsea's big 7–0 win against Norwich City.
On August 30, 2022, Hudson-Odoi joined the German club Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. He went there on a loan for one season. He scored his first goal for Leverkusen on October 26. It was in a 2–2 draw away to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.
Nottingham Forest
On September 1, 2023, Hudson-Odoi signed a three-year contract with Premier League club Nottingham Forest. He scored a goal in his first game for them on September 18. It was in a 1–1 home draw against Burnley.
In February 2024, he scored in three Premier League games in a row. These were a 1–1 draw with Bournemouth, a 3–2 loss to Newcastle United, and a 2–0 win over West Ham United. On May 4, he scored two goals in a 3–1 win against Sheffield United. This win helped his team avoid being moved down to a lower league. In the next game, Hudson-Odoi scored against his old club Chelsea. This was his eighth goal of the 2023–24 Premier League season.
Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal of the 2024–25 Premier League season on September 14, 2024. He scored the only goal in a 1–0 away win over Liverpool. This was Nottingham Forest's first win at Anfield since February 1969.
Playing for England
Callum Hudson-Odoi can play for both England and Ghana. He has played for England at many different age levels. These include the under-16 to under-19 teams. In April 2017, he was chosen for the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He scored in the semi-final against Turkey. He also scored in the final, but England lost to Spain in a penalty shoot-out. Because of his good play, he was named in the team of the tournament.
Hudson-Odoi was also a very important player during England's 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup journey. He scored one goal in seven games. He played the whole 90 minutes in their 5–2 win over Spain in the final.
He was called up to the England under-21 team for the first time in March 2019. A few days later, some senior players got injured. So, he was called up to the senior England team. This was for UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro. When he heard he was called up, Hudson-Odoi said he was "shocked" and that it was "a dream come true."
He played his first game for the senior team on March 22. He came on as a substitute in the 70th minute in a 5–0 win over the Czech Republic at Wembley Stadium. By doing this, he became the youngest player to play in a competitive game for England. He was 18 years and 135 days old. This broke a record set by Duncan Edwards in 1955.
Three days later, he started his first competitive game for England. He played very well in a 5–1 win over Montenegro. He helped set up two goals for his Chelsea teammate Ross Barkley. After his full debut, he became the second youngest player to start a competitive game for England. Only Wayne Rooney in April 2003 was younger. The manager, Gareth Southgate, praised him for his effort after the game.
Hudson-Odoi played his first game for the England under-21 team on October 11, 2019. It was a 2–2 draw against Slovenia. In August 2021, Hudson-Odoi decided not to play for the England under-21 team in some games. His Chelsea manager at the time questioned his choice.
