Discovering Camagüey Province
Camagüey is mostly a flat area. You won't find any big hills or mountain ranges here. The province is known for its many large cays, which are small, low islands made of sand or coral. These cays are found along both the northern and southern coasts. One famous group of cays is the Archipiélago Jardines de la Reina. This used to be a favorite fishing spot for Fidel Castro, a famous Cuban leader.
Beaches and Nature
You can find sandy beaches on both the north and south coasts of Camagüey. Even though there are many beautiful spots for tourism, not many resorts have been built here yet. One special exception is Santa Lucía beach, which is on the northern coast and is a popular place to visit.
What People Do Here (Economy)
The main jobs in Camagüey Province are related to farming. People mostly raise cattle (cows) and grow sugar cane, especially in the north and south parts of the province. Camagüey is famous for its "cowboy culture," and you can often see exciting rodeos happening here!
Farmers also raise chickens and grow rice. There's also a smaller industry that grows citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits. The capital city of Camagüey even has one of the few breweries (places that make drinks like beer) on the island of Cuba.
