It's called an "unincorporated community" and a "census-designated place (CDP)". This means it's not an official city or town, but it's a recognized area where people live.
The community is part of the larger Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2020, about 4,327 people lived here. Douglas County helps manage the area. The local Castle Rock post office delivers mail to the area using Zip Code 80108.

History of Castle Pines Village
Castle Pines Village started in 1981 as a private, gated community where people live. It sits high up, between 6,000 and 6,500 feet above sea level. This area is part of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. From here, you can see amazing views of Pikes Peak and other mountains.
The community is built around two golf clubs. The Castle Pines Golf Club was designed by famous golfer Jack Nicklaus. From 1986 to 2006, this club hosted a big professional golf tournament called The International.
In 2018, the community's name was officially changed to The Village at Castle Pines. This helped people tell it apart from other nearby areas.
