Châbles was once a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the Broye district of the Fribourg area. On January 1, 2017, Châbles joined with another town called Cheyres. They formed a new, larger municipality named Cheyres-Châbles.

Châbles covers an area of about 4.7 square kilometers (1.8 square miles). A large part of this land, over half, is used for farming. Forests cover about a quarter of the area.

Some of the land is used for buildings and roads. A small amount is rivers or lakes. The rest of the land is not used for farming or building.

Châbles is located in the Broye district. It is close to Lake Neuchatel.

There have been talks about Châbles and some nearby towns joining together. These towns include Cheyres, Murist, Nuvilly, and Vuissens.

What is the Châbles Coat of Arms?

The blazon of the town's coat of arms shows a red shield. On the shield is a silver tower with battlements. It has black lines and windows. On each side of the tower are two black stars. At the bottom, there are green hills.

Who Lives in Châbles?

Châbles had a population of about 657 people in 2008. Over the past ten years, the number of people living there has grown quite a lot. Most of this growth was because new people moved into the town.

Most people in Châbles speak French as their main language. German is the second most common language. A small number of people also speak Spanish.

In 2008, a little less than half of the population was male. A little more than half was female. Most of the people living in Châbles were Swiss citizens.

Many people living in Châbles were born there. Others were born in the same canton (Fribourg). Some people moved to Châbles from other parts of Switzerland or from other countries.

In 2000, about 16% of the population were children aged 0-9. About 10% were teenagers aged 10-19. The adult population included people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. There were also older adults, including those over 90 years old.

Most adults in Châbles were married in 2000. Some were single, widowed, or divorced.

During the 2010-2011 school year, Châbles had 74 students in primary school. There were no kindergarten or secondary schools directly in Châbles. However, students from Châbles could attend schools in nearby towns for kindergarten and secondary education.
