Christopher James Barnett (born June 14, 1986) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He competes in the Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

About Chris Barnett
Chris Barnett was born in Zaragoza, Spain, on June 14, 1986. His father was in the United States Air Force and was stationed there. When Chris was about four years old, his family moved back to the United States. They eventually settled in Georgia.
Chris started training in Taekwondo when he was around five years old. Both of his parents are black belts in this martial art. He later went to Campbellsville University and the University of South Florida. He earned a Bachelor's Degree. At Campbellsville, Chris also competed in Wrestling on a scholarship. He also began training in Judo. Chris got an invitation to try out mixed martial arts after showing his moves in a dance battle. He started training right away.

Starting His Pro Career
Chris Barnett began his professional fighting career in 2009. He mostly fought in a league called Xtreme Fighting Championships. He had a great start, winning 5 out of his first 5 fights. Four of these wins were by knockout! He also fought in other well-known Asian fighting organizations. These included Rizin Fighting Federation and Road Fighting Championship.
Fighting in the UFC
After 12 years of hard work, Chris Barnett finally got a call from the UFC. This is the biggest mixed martial arts organization in the world. His first UFC fight was on May 22, 2021, against Ben Rothwell. Chris lost this fight in the second round.
In his next fight, Chris Barnett faced Gian Villante at UFC 268 on November 6, 2021. This fight was special because it was Villante's last fight before retiring. Chris won the fight in the second round with a technical knockout. He used an amazing spinning wheel kick and punches to win. This exciting victory earned him a Performance of the Night bonus award.
Chris then fought Martin Buday on April 16, 2022. Chris lost this fight by a technical unanimous decision. He couldn't continue fighting after an accidental elbow hit him in the back of the head.
Barnett's most recent fight was against Jake Collier on September 10, 2022, at UFC 279. Chris weighed in a little over the limit for his weight class. He was fined a small part of his earnings. In the fight, Chris was knocked down in the first round. However, he fought back strongly and won the fight by TKO in the second round.
Chris Barnett was scheduled for a few more fights but had to withdraw. These included fights against Mohammed Usman and Waldo Cortes-Acosta. He had to pull out of the Cortes-Acosta fight because he couldn't travel due to Hurricane Milton.
His most recent fight was on October 26, 2024, at UFC 308. He stepped in to fight Kennedy Nzechukwu. Chris lost this fight by technical knockout in the first round.

Chris Barnett is a family man. He has a daughter and a son.
