Collonges is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It's located in the Valais canton, which is like a state, and is part of the Saint-Maurice district.

Collonges: A Look Back in Time

Collonges was first written about in the year 1239. Back then, it was called Colunges. The village you see today was built where an older village once stood. This older village was named Arbignon. People knew Arbignon as desertum Alpinonis in the 11th and 12th centuries. It's thought that Arbignon was left empty because of floods from a nearby stream called Aboyeu creek.
