Evionnaz is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It's part of the Saint-Maurice district.

History of Evionnaz
Evionnaz was first mentioned in old writings in 1263. Back then, it was called Eviona. It became its own independent municipality in 1822. Before that, it was part of the larger area of Saint-Maurice.
Geography of Evionnaz
Evionnaz covers an area of about 48 square kilometers (18.5 square miles). A small part of this land, about 12.2%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 19.0% of the area.
About 2.0% of the land has buildings or roads. The largest part, 66.8%, is unproductive land, like mountains or rocky areas. The town is in the Saint-Maurice district. This district stretches from the Rhone river to the Dents-du-Midi mountains. Evionnaz includes the main village and two smaller settlements called hamlets: La Balmaz and La Rasse.

The blazon (official description) of Evionnaz's coat of arms describes it as: Azure City Walls embattled Argent with entrance towered and embattled and with a window Sable, in chief three Barrulets wavy of the second. This means it shows silver city walls with towers and a window on a blue background. Above the walls, there are three wavy silver lines.
