Conrad Vernon, born on July 11, 1968, is an American director, producer, writer, storyboard artist, and voice actor. He is well-known for his work on animated films. He has contributed to popular movies like the Shrek series, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. He also co-directed films such as The Addams Family.

Conrad Vernon's Early Life and Career Beginnings
Conrad Vernon was born in Lubbock, Texas, on July 11, 1968. He studied at the CalArts, a famous school for artists. After his studies, he started working as a storyboard artist. Storyboard artists draw pictures that show how a movie scene will look, like a comic book version of the film.
He worked on animated productions, including a film called Cool World. He also directed a short animated film named Morto the Magician. This film was only four minutes long and was written by the famous actor Steve Martin.
Joining DreamWorks Animation
Conrad Vernon began his professional career in 1991. In 1996, he joined DreamWorks Animation, a big animation studio. His first job there was as a storyboard artist for the movie Antz. This film was a success and was one of the first animated movies made by DreamWorks.
After Antz, Vernon became a writer for the first Shrek movie. He helped create the character of the Gingerbread Man. He even provided the voice for this character! He also lent his voice to other Shrek projects like Shrek 4-D.
Directing Animated Movies
In June 2004, Conrad Vernon directed his first full-length movie, Shrek 2. He co-directed it with Andrew Adamson and Kelly Asbury. Shrek 2 was a huge hit and was even nominated for an Academy Award.
He also voiced the character of Mason, the chimpanzee, in the Madagascar film series. He voiced Mason in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. For Madagascar 3, he also worked as a director. Later, he voiced Rico, one of the penguins, in the Penguins of Madagascar movie. He continued to voice Mason in the television series.
In 2009, Vernon co-directed the 3D animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens with Rob Letterman. He also helped write the story for this film and voiced several characters in it.
Vernon co-directed an animated version of The Addams Family, which was released in October 2019. He also provided voice roles for this movie, including the character of Lurch. He returned as a co-director for The Addams Family 2, which came out in October 2021.
In 2017, it was announced that Conrad Vernon would direct an animated movie based on The Jetsons. This film is being made by Warner Bros. under its Warner Animation Group studio.
