Cooper Douglas Kupp is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on June 15, 1993.
Kupp played college football for the Eastern Washington Eagles. He won the Walter Payton Award as one of the best players in college football. The Los Angeles Rams picked him in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In 2021, Kupp had an amazing season. He became only the fourth player since the AFL-NFL merger to lead the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. This is known as the "receiving triple crown." He also won the Offensive Player of the Year Award. To top it off, he was named the MVP of Super Bowl LVI. Only Jerry Rice, another famous wide receiver, has achieved both of these honors in his career.
Cooper Kupp holds several college football records. He is the all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. He also holds an NFL record for the most receiving yards in a single season, including playoffs, with 2,425 yards in 2021.

Early Life and High School Sports
Kupp was born in Yakima, Washington. His family has a strong football background. His grandfather, Jake Kupp, played as an offensive lineman in the NFL. His father, Craig Kupp, was an NFL quarterback. Cooper's family is one of only five in NFL history to have three generations drafted into the league.
Kupp went to Davis High School in Yakima. He was a talented athlete in both football and basketball. In football, he was recognized as an All-State player on both offense and defense. He was also named one of the top 100 prospects in Washington state.
During his senior year, Kupp set a school record with 22 total touchdowns. He had 60 catches for 1,059 yards. Even with these great stats, he didn't receive any college football scholarship offers at first. Three weeks after his senior season ended, Eastern Washington offered him a scholarship.
Kupp also played basketball for three years. He helped his team win the State 4A Tournament championship in his senior year.
College Football Journey
Kupp attended Eastern Washington University. He joined the Eastern Washington Eagles football team in 2012. He spent his first year as a "redshirt," meaning he practiced but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain experience without using a year of his college eligibility.
Amazing Freshman Year (2013)
In 2013, Kupp became a starting wide receiver. He quickly broke many school and national records for a freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). He set national freshman records for receiving yards (1,691), total touchdown catches (21), and receptions (93). He also caught a touchdown in 14 straight games.
Kupp was named the Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year. He also won the 2013 Jerry Rice Award, given to the best freshman player in the FCS. He was the first player from Eastern Washington to win this award. He was also named a first-team All-American, which is a huge honor for a freshman.
Continued Success (2014-2016)
Kupp continued to excel in his sophomore year (2014). He had 104 catches for 1,431 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was again named a First-team All-American.
In 2015, Kupp had 114 catches for 1,642 yards and 19 touchdowns. He broke the Big Sky record for catches in a season. He was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Most Valuable Player. Kupp also won the Walter Payton Award, which goes to the top offensive player in the FCS.
Kupp decided to return for his senior season in 2016. He finished his college career with incredible records. His 428 receptions and 6,464 receiving yards are the most in FCS history. His 6,464 yards also broke the all-division NCAA record. Kupp's 73 receiving touchdowns are also the most in FCS history.

Professional NFL Career
Joining the Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams drafted Cooper Kupp in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the seventh wide receiver chosen that year. He signed a four-year contract with the Rams.
Kupp quickly became an important player for the Rams. In his first NFL game, he caught a touchdown pass. He continued to make big plays, especially in the "red zone" (close to the goal line) and on third downs. By the end of his rookie season in 2017, he had 62 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns. The Rams made the playoffs that year.
Overcoming Injuries
In 2018, Kupp started strong but suffered a serious knee injury (a torn ACL) during a game. This injury ended his season early. Without him, the Rams still made it to the Super Bowl but lost.
Kupp worked hard to recover and returned for the 2019 season. He had a fantastic comeback, catching 94 passes for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. He even set an NFL record for most receiving yards in an international game with 220 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in London.
In 2020, Kupp changed his jersey number to 10, which he wore in college. He continued to be a key player for the Rams, leading the team in catches and receiving yards.
The Incredible 2021 Season


The 2021 season was one of the best ever for a wide receiver in NFL history. With new quarterback Matthew Stafford, Kupp had an amazing year. He set new Rams franchise records with 145 receptions and 1,947 receiving yards. He also caught 16 touchdowns.
Kupp achieved the "receiving triple crown" by leading the entire NFL in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He was the first player to do this since 2005. His 1,947 yards were the second-most in NFL history for a single season.
In the 2021 playoffs, Kupp continued his incredible performance. He helped the Rams win three games to reach Super Bowl LVI. In the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals, Kupp scored the game-winning touchdown. He was named the Super Bowl MVP for his outstanding play. His 33 catches in the playoffs set a new NFL record for a single postseason.
Recent Seasons with the Rams
In June 2022, Kupp signed a new contract to stay with the Rams. He started the 2022 season strong, but another ankle injury required surgery and ended his season early. He finished with 75 catches for 812 yards and six touchdowns in nine games.
Kupp returned in 2023 after dealing with a hamstring injury. He played in 12 games, catching 59 passes for 737 yards and five touchdowns. The Rams made the playoffs again.
In the 2024 season, Kupp continued to be a top receiver. He tied his career high with 14 catches in the first game. He also passed 600 career receptions and moved into third place on the Rams' all-time receptions list. He also moved to third place for career receiving touchdowns for the team.
On February 3, 2025, the Rams told Kupp he was not in their future plans. They tried to trade him, but couldn't find a team. So, on March 12, 2025, the Rams released him.
Joining the Seattle Seahawks
On March 14, 2025, Cooper Kupp signed a three-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. He is now a key player for their team.

Personal Life
Cooper Kupp is the son of former NFL quarterback Craig Kupp. His younger brother, Ketner, also played college football and briefly joined the Rams.
His grandfather, Jake Kupp, was a successful offensive lineman in the NFL. He played for several teams, including the New Orleans Saints, where he was a five-time captain and was inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Kupp is a devout Christian. He met his wife, Anna Croskrey, in high school. They got married in 2015 and have three sons. The family lives in California during the football season and in Oregon during the offseason.
