Courtepin is a town in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It is located in the See district. On January 1, 2017, the nearby towns of Barberêche, Villarepos, and Wallenried joined with Courtepin to form a larger municipality.

History of Courtepin
Courtepin was first mentioned in old records in 1259. Back then, it was called Courtipin. It also had a German name, Curtepy, but this name is not used anymore.
On January 1, 2003, another town called Courtaman also joined Courtepin.
Geography of Courtepin
After the towns merged in 2017, Courtepin became much larger. Its total area is now about 21.92 square kilometers (8.46 square miles).
A big part of the land, about 46.3%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 27.7% of the area. The rest of the land, about 25.5%, has buildings or roads.
Courtepin is located where French and German are spoken. Most people in the town speak French. The town has an older part called Vieux Quartier and a newer part called Quartier Neuf. Quartier Neuf grew around the train station, which was built in 1898.
People of Courtepin (Demographics)
Courtepin has a population of about 3,800 people. About 37% of the people living there are from other countries. Over the past 10 years, the population has grown by about 21.2%.
Most people in Courtepin speak French (about 63.7%). The second most common language is German (about 18.3%), followed by Portuguese (about 9.8%).
In 2008, about 50.8% of the population was male and 49.2% was female. Many people were born in Courtepin or the same canton. About 30.2% of the people were born outside Switzerland.
Young people, aged 0 to 19, make up about 29.2% of the population. Adults (20-64 years old) are about 62.1%, and seniors (over 64 years old) are about 8.7%.

After the towns merged in 2017, Courtepin gained several important historical sites. These include:

- A granary (a building for storing grain) at Route de Grimoine 20 B
These sites are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. This means they are very important to Switzerland's history and culture. The area around Petit and Grand-Vivy castles is also a protected heritage site.
