History of Cubic Corporation
Cubic Corporation was started in 1949 by Walter J. Zable. It began as an electronics company in San Diego, California. Mr. Zable chose the name "Cubic" to show its focus on engineering and precision. Their first product measured microwave output. In 1959, Cubic became a company whose shares could be bought and sold by the public.
In 1969, Cubic bought United States Elevator Corporation. This company made elevators for people and goods.
Today, Cubic employs 6,200 people around the world. Stevan Slijepcevic became the company's president and CEO in January 2022.
In May 2021, Cubic was bought by two private investment firms. This changed Cubic from a publicly traded company to a private one.

Major Projects by Cubic
Cubic Transportation Systems has completed over 400 projects. These projects are in 40 different markets across five continents. They were one of the first to use mobile ticketing in 2006. They offer many ways to pay, like mobile tickets, smartcards, and traditional systems. The Umo Mobility Platform was launched in January 2021. Cubic manages about 70% of the world's smart transit cards. They process over 24 billion transactions every year!
In 2017, Cubic was chosen for a big project in Massachusetts. This project, called "Fare Transformation," updates the public transport payment systems. It is expected to be finished around 2024.
In 2022, Cubic signed a contract in New Zealand. They are developing a "National Ticketing Solution." This will allow people to use one fare card for all public transport across New Zealand.
