Dalkurd Fotbollsförening, often called Dalkurd FF or just Dalkurd, is a professional football club from Sweden. The team is currently based in Uppsala and plays in Division 2, which is the fourth level of football in Sweden. The club was started on September 26, 2004, by people from the Kurdish community in Borlänge, Dalarna.

In 2017, Dalkurd decided to move their main team to Uppsala. This city is about 140 kilometers (87 miles) southeast of Borlänge. They planned to play at the new Nya Studenternas IP stadium once it opened in 2020. However, for the 2018 season, Dalkurd played their home games at Gavlevallen in Gävle. This city is about 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of Uppsala. Dalkurd FF holds the record for the lowest number of fans attending games in the history of both Allsvenskan and Superettan. These are the two highest football leagues in Sweden. Dalkurd FF is connected with the Upplands Fotbollförbund, which is a local football association.

Club History

The Dalkurd football club was created in Borlänge in 2004 by a group of Kurdish people. It began as a way to help young people in Borlänge by giving them fun activities to do. Another club, IK Brage, even helped to pay for the project. In their very first season, the team was made up of players who were, on average, only 17 years old.

The chairman, Ramazan Kizil, had big dreams for the club. He wanted Dalkurd to reach the top levels of Swedish football. And they did! Dalkurd won every league they played in from their first season in 2005 all the way to 2009. This amazing success got a lot of attention from the news, both in Sweden and in other countries.

In March 2015, the club had a very close call while traveling back from Spain. The team was supposed to fly from Barcelona to Düsseldorf on a flight called Germanwings Flight 9525. But at the last minute, they changed their flight because the wait in Germany would have been too long. Sadly, Flight 4U 9525 crashed into the French Alps on March 24, and everyone on board passed away. The Dalkurd team was safe because they had changed their plans.

Dalkurd FF has set some records for the lowest number of fans at games. In 2018, they had the lowest average attendance ever in Sweden's top league, Allsvenskan, with only 1,058 people per game. The old record was 1,125 fans, set way back in 1924–25. One game against BK Häcken had only 202 people, which was the second lowest attendance in the league's history.

In 2019, they also set the record for the lowest average attendance in the Superettan league, with only 168 people at their games.

Team Crest

The Dalkurd team crest is a round circle. Inside it, you can see the flag of Kurdistan. There are also two Dalecarlian horses, which are a symbol from the Dalarna region of Sweden. The words "Dal" and "Kurd FF" are written in white letters around the top and bottom of the circle. The year 2004, when the club was founded, is also shown on the crest.

The main home colors for Dalkurd are all green. The away kit is usually white. In the 2019 season, they also had black, yellow, and pink away kits. The company that makes the club's uniforms is Adidas.
