Idrottsklubben Brage, often called IK Brage or just Brage, is a Swedish football club. It is located in Borlänge, a town in Sweden. The club plays its home games at Domnarvsvallen stadium.
Brage's team colors are green and white. You can see these colors on their team badge and uniforms. The club started in 1925. It was first called IK Blixt. Later, it changed its name to IK Brage. This new name came from Bragi, a god in Norse mythology.
IK Brage has played 18 seasons in Allsvenskan. This is the highest football league in Sweden. Currently, they play in Superettan, which is the second-highest league. The season for this league runs from April to November.
The club has mostly played in the top two Swedish leagues. However, they also spent some time in the third and fourth divisions.

Club History
How Brage Started
In the early 1920s, two clubs from Borlänge, IK Blixt and Domnarvets GIF, joined together. They formed a new club called Domnarvets GoIF. Their main goal was to work together to build a new stadium. This stadium is now known as Domnarvsvallen.
But the members of IK Blixt felt that football was not getting enough attention. They wanted to bring back their old club. However, the new club, Domnarvets GoIF, owned the name "IK Blixt." So, in 1925, the old IK Blixt members started a brand new football club. They decided to name it IK Brage, after the Norse god Bragi.
After starting, the club quickly moved up through the different leagues. By the 1929–1930 season, they reached the second-highest level. The 1930s were a very successful time for Brage. They played in the highest league, 1937–38 Allsvenskan, for the first time. Two years later, they finished fourth, which was their best result back then.
In the early days, Brage also had teams that played bandy during the winter.
Ups and Downs in the 1970s and 1980s
By the mid-1970s, the club had dropped to the third division. This was the first time they were that low in almost 30 years. After four seasons there, they brought in Rolf Zetterlund from AIK. He became their new player-manager.
Under his leadership, the club quickly climbed back up the leagues. They returned to the top league, 1980 Allsvenskan, in 1980. They finished fourth again, matching their best-ever result. That same year, they almost won their first big title. They finished second in the Svenska Cupen, a major cup competition.
Their success continued throughout the 1980s. Brage became a strong team in the Allsvenskan. This period was the most successful in the club's history. Brage finished in the top five three times. This allowed them to play in the UEFA Cup several times. They even played against famous clubs like Werder Bremen and Inter Milan.
Leaving the Top League in the 1990s
In 1990, Brage was moved down to the second league. Then, in their last Allsvenskan season in 1993, they finished in last place. After that, they have not been able to return to the Allsvenskan.
Challenges in the 2000s and 2010s
Things got even tougher for Brage in the early 2000s. They were moved down to the third division, and then even to the fourth. The club had not played at such a low level since it started in the 1920s. However, they have since improved. They are now back in the second-highest Swedish football league, which is called Superettan.
In 2009, IK Brage earned a spot in Superettan again. This was thanks to a great team spirit, especially with manager Lennart "Kral" Andersson. He was very popular with the fans. But in 2013, the club faced big problems. New leaders signed many experienced players. However, these players caused issues, and the team won only two games that season. Many players left before the season ended.
The club was moved down to Division 1 again. They almost went bankrupt in 2014 and 2015 because of these bad decisions. But in 2019, Brage had a dramatic last game of the season. They qualified for a special playoff game to try and get promoted.
