Danielle's Archery Journey

Starting Her International Career

Danielle's first big international competition was in 2006. It was the European Archery Championships for athletes with disabilities. She made it to the semi-finals but didn't win a medal that time.

Winning Gold at World Championships

In 2007, Danielle competed in the IPC World Archery Championships. She won a gold medal in the individual event! She also helped the British women's team win another gold medal. They were amazing!

Paralympic Gold and More Wins

In 2008, Danielle went to the Paralympic Games in Beijing. She won a gold medal in the individual compound archery event. This was a huge achievement!

She continued to win more gold medals in 2009 and 2010. These included individual and team golds at the IPC World Archery Championships. She also won three individual gold medals at other big events.

Competing in the Commonwealth Games

In 2010, Danielle did something very special. She represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She was the first Paralympian to compete for England in an event against athletes without disabilities. Danielle won a gold medal with her team in the Women's Team Compound event. This showed how incredibly skilled she is!

More Medals and Paralympic Success

Danielle kept winning in 2011, earning a gold and two silver medals at the IPC World Championships.

In 2012, she won her second gold medal at the Paralympic Games in London. She beat her British teammate, Mel Clarke, in the final. That same year, she also won the Indoor World Cup and a silver medal at the World Cup Finals, both against athletes without disabilities.

Becoming a British Champion

On September 1, 2013, Danielle won the British title in archery. She competed against athletes without disabilities and won the compound final.

Changes in Competition Rules

Later in 2013, a new rule meant Danielle could no longer compete in Para-Archery events. This was because her disability didn't directly affect her archery performance. She tried to appeal, but the decision stayed. So, from April 1, 2014, she could only compete against athletes without disabilities.

Life After Para-Archery

Danielle still competed in the able-bodied World Championships in 2015. In 2017, she appeared on a TV show called Christmas University Challenge, representing Leicester University.
