Dante Roman Basco (born August 29, 1975) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Rufio, the leader of the Lost Boys in Steven Spielberg's movie Hook. He also voiced the main character Jake Long in American Dragon: Jake Long. Another famous role is Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Dante Basco has lent his voice to many other characters. These include Zuko's grandson General Iroh II in The Legend of Korra. He was also Quoc Wong in The Proud Family and Jai Kell in Star Wars Rebels.

Early Life and Beginnings

Dante Basco was born in Pittsburg, California. He grew up in Cerritos and Paramount, California. He has four brothers and sisters. One of his brothers, Dion Basco, is also an actor.

In the mid-1980s, Dante and his brothers formed a breakdancing group. They performed on the streets. He later went to the Orange County High School of the Arts. He studied music and theater there. He finished school in 1993.

Acting Career Highlights

Dante Basco started his acting journey with small TV roles. His big break came in 1991. He played Rufio in Steven Spielberg's movie Hook. In this film, he acted alongside famous stars like Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman.

In 2017, Basco helped make a short film called Bangarang. This film was about his character Rufio. Fans helped fund the movie through Kickstarter. Dante Basco also streams video games on Twitch.

He wrote a book about his life called From Rufio to Zuko. It tells his story from his early roles to his voice acting success. In 2021, he started hosting a podcast. On April 19, 2023, Dante Basco got engaged. He proposed to actress Alice Rehemutula. They got married in September 2023 in China. In May 2024, they shared exciting news. Alice announced that they are expecting their first child.
