David Kenneth Harbour (born April 10, 1975) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Jim Hopper in the popular Netflix science fiction series Stranger Things.
Harbour has also starred in many movies. These include playing the main character in Hellboy (2019) and Santa Claus in Violent Night (2022). He also plays Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Black Widow (2021). For his acting, he has been nominated for awards like the Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

David Kenneth Harbour was born on April 10, 1975. His hometown is White Plains, New York, in the U.S. His parents, Kenneth and Nancy Harbour, both worked in real estate.
He went to Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York. After high school, he studied at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1997. While there, he studied drama and Italian.
Acting Career Highlights
David Harbour started his acting journey in theater. He performed in plays by Shakespeare from 1994 to 1997. His first professional role on Broadway was in 1999. It was in a play called The Rainmaker.
He also started acting on TV in 1999. His first TV appearance was on the show Law & Order. In 2005, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
Early Film and TV Roles
Harbour appeared in several movies early in his career. These included Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Revolutionary Road (2008). He also had a role in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
On television, he had a recurring role as Roger Anderson. This was in the ABC series Pan Am. From 2012 to 2014, he also played Elliot Hirsch in The Newsroom.

In 2015, David Harbour got a very important role. He was cast as Chief Jim Hopper. This was for the Netflix science fiction series Stranger Things.
