David Jonathan Heyman (born on July 26, 1961) is a British film producer. He is famous for producing all eight Harry Potter movies, which are based on the popular fantasy books by J. K. Rowling. He also produced the three Fantastic Beasts movies, which are spin-offs from the Harry Potter world.
As a producer, David Heyman helps bring movies to life. He oversees everything from getting the story ready, finding directors and actors, to making sure the film gets made and released. His work on many successful films has made him one of the most successful producers ever!

Early life and education
David Heyman was born in London, England. His father, John Heyman, was also a film producer. His mother, Norma Heyman, was an actress and a producer who was even nominated for an Academy Award.
When he was seven, David was a page boy at the wedding of his godmother, a famous actress named Diana Dors. He went to Westminster School and later studied art history at Harvard University in the United States, graduating in 1983.
Film career
David Heyman started his career in the film industry as an assistant on a movie called A Passage to India. Later, he worked at Warner Bros., a big movie studio.
In 1997, Heyman returned to London and started his own film company called Heyday Films. This is where he began producing the Harry Potter movies, which became a huge global success.
After the Harry Potter series, Heyman continued to produce many other well-known films:
- In 2007, he produced the action movie I Am Legend.
- In 2008, he produced The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Yes Man.
- In 2013, he worked with director Alfonso Cuarón again (who directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) to make the space thriller Gravity. This movie starred Sandra Bullock and George Clooney and won seven Academy Awards.
- He also produced the family-friendly Paddington movies in 2014 and 2017, which are about a polite bear from Peru.
- He continued his work in the wizarding world by producing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016 and its sequel in 2018.
- In 2019, he produced two movies that were nominated for Best Picture: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Marriage Story.
- In 2023, he produced the very popular movie Barbie, which became the highest-grossing film ever for Warner Bros., even beating Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Barbie was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.
Personal life
David Heyman lives in Pimlico, London. He is married to Rose Uniacke, who is an interior designer. They have one son named Harper Heyman. David is also a stepfather to four children from his wife's previous marriage.
