Die is in the eastern part of the Drôme department. The Drôme river flows right through the city. This river is a tributary, which means it's a smaller river that flows into a bigger one, in this case, the Rhône river.
The city covers an area of about 57.3 square kilometers (about 22 square miles). Its average height above sea level is around 1,104 meters (3,622 feet). Right at the city hall, the height is about 402 meters (1,319 feet).
Die is quite far from France's capital, Paris, which is about 630 km (391 miles) away. It's closer to Lyon, the capital of its region, at 170 km (106 miles).
Die is surrounded by eight other communes. These are like its neighbors: Chamaloc, Romeyer, Laval-d'Aix, Molières-Glandaz, Aix-en-Diois, Barsac, Ponet-et-Saint-Auban, and Marignac-en-Diois.
