Water Flowing from Doubletop

Mountains like Doubletop play a big role in where water goes. Doubletop Mountain is part of the watershed for the Delaware River. A watershed is like a giant bowl where all the rain and snowmelt collect and flow into a larger river or body of water.

Water from Doubletop Mountain flows in different directions:

  • On its northeast side, water flows into Dry Brook, which then joins the East Branch of the Delaware River.
  • Water from the northwest part of the mountain also flows into Dry Brook.
  • From the southwest, water goes into the Beaver Kill, another stream that joins the East Branch of the Delaware River.
  • The south and southeast parts of Doubletop send water into streams like High Falls Brook and Pigeon Brook. These streams eventually lead to the West Branch of the Neversink River, which also connects to the Delaware River.

So, all the water that starts on Doubletop Mountain eventually makes its way to the Delaware Bay.
