Eskilstuna Municipality (which in Swedish is Eskilstuna kommun) is a special area in Sweden. It's located in the southeast part of the country, in Södermanland County. This municipality is nestled between two large lakes: Lake Mälaren and Lake Hjälmaren.
The main town and administrative center of the municipality is the city of Eskilstuna. The municipality we know today was created in 1971. It was formed by joining the City of Eskilstuna, the City of Torshälla, and five smaller rural areas. Eskilstuna Municipality is the biggest municipality in the Sörmland region when it comes to how many people live there. In fact, more than one-third of all the people in Södermanland County live here!

Eskilstuna Municipality is mostly inland, meaning it's not directly on the sea. However, it has a long shoreline along Lake Mälaren. This lake is very low, only about 1 meter (3 feet) above sea level. The highest point in the municipality is a place called Tyckenhed. It's in the southwest and reaches about 114 meters (374 feet) above sea level.
