There were some acts of rebellion and violence in Eutaw during this period. For example, in 1870, a lawyer named Alexander Boyd was killed. Later that year, during an election, an event known as the Eutaw riot happened near the courthouse, where some people were killed.

Many of these are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which helps protect them. Some famous ones include the Coleman-Banks House and the First Presbyterian Church. The downtown area, called the Greene County Courthouse Square District, is also a historic place.
