Federal is a small rural area in Queensland, Australia. It is a locality within the Shire of Noosa. You can find Federal in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland. It is close to the towns of Cooran and Pomona. In 2021, about 365 people lived in Federal.

Exploring Federal's Landscape
Federal is a rural area with natural beauty. Skyring Creek flows through the northwest part of Federal. This creek is a branch of the Mary River. The main highway, called the Bruce Highway, also runs through Federal. This highway has had big upgrades recently. These upgrades cost over $500 million each. Most of the land in Federal is used for grazing animals. This means that cattle or other livestock eat the natural plants there.
A Look at Federal's Past
The area we now call Federal was first known as Skyring Creek. This name came from two brothers, Zachariah and Daniel Skyring. They started cattle farms here around 1853. Their farms were very large, covering about 61,850 acres of land.
The name Federal came later. It refers to a group of people who moved here in 1905–1906. They came from a place called Federal in New South Wales.
