Where is Ridgewood?
Ridgewood is found in the "hinterland" of the Sunshine Coast. This means it's a bit inland from the famous beaches. It is about 32 kilometers (20 miles) west of Noosa Heads, a well-known coastal town.
A Look Back: Ridgewood's History
Ridgewood has a simple but interesting past.
Early School Days
A school called Mary River Road Provisional School first opened its doors in 1916. Around 1918, its name changed to Ridgewood State School. This school served the community for many years before closing around 1961. It was located on Cooroy Belli Creek Road.
Local Government Changes
Between 2008 and 2013, Ridgewood, along with the rest of the Noosa area, became part of the Sunshine Coast Region. This change happened because of a decision to combine local governments. However, many people were not happy with this, and eventually, the decision was reversed. This meant Ridgewood returned to being part of the Shire of Noosa.
