Floria Sigismondi (born 1965) is a talented Italian-Canadian film director, writer, and artist. She is also known for directing music videos and taking amazing photographs.
Floria Sigismondi is famous for writing and directing the movie The Runaways. She has also directed many music videos for popular artists like Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, David Bowie, and Katy Perry. Besides movies and music videos, she has directed commercials for big brands such as Gucci and Nike. She has even directed episodes for TV shows like The Handmaid's Tale and American Gods.

Early Life and Creative Journey
Floria Sigismondi was born in Pescara, Italy. Her parents, Lina and Domenico Sigismondi, were opera singers. When she was two years old, her family moved to Hamilton, Canada. As a child, Floria loved drawing and painting.
Studying Art and Photography
In 1987, Floria began studying painting and illustration at the Ontario College of Art, which is now called Ontario College of Art & Design University. During her studies, she discovered photography and became very passionate about it. She ended up graduating with a major in photography.
Starting a Career in Music Videos
Floria first worked as a fashion photographer. Later, a company called The Revolver Film Co. asked her to direct music videos. She started directing videos for Canadian bands. Her videos were very new and exciting, often showing unique and sometimes dark worlds. These videos caught the attention of many famous musicians. Floria has described her work as "something quite textural and brutal" mixed with "something quite beautiful and light." She likes to blend different worlds in her art.

Floria Sigismondi has shown her photography and sculptures in art shows around the world. Her solo exhibitions have been in cities like Hamilton, Toronto, New York City, and London. The film was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010.
The Turning Film
In 2020, Floria directed a horror film called The Turning. This movie was inspired by an old story from 1898 called The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. It stars actors like Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard.
