Fremont is a small town located in Steuben County, New York, in the United States. In 2020, about 898 people lived there. The town is named after General John Fremont, a famous American explorer and soldier.
Fremont is in the western part of Steuben County. It is located northeast of the city of Hornell.

History of Fremont
The town of Fremont was created in 1854. It was formed by combining parts of four other nearby towns. These towns were Dansville, Hornellsville, Howard, and Wayland.
Geography and Roads
Fremont covers a total area of about 32.4 square miles (83.8 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 32.2 square miles (83.5 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.1 square miles (0.3 square kilometers), is water.
Important roads pass through the southern part of Fremont. These include the Southern Tier Expressway, which is also known as Interstate 86 and New York State Highway 17. New York State Route 21 also runs through the town.

The Town of Fremont includes several smaller communities and locations:
- Big Creek – This is a small village, called a hamlet, located in the southeast part of the town. It is south of the main expressway.
- Fremont – This is the main hamlet of Fremont. It is found on New York State Route 21 in the southwest part of the town.
- Haskinsville – Another hamlet located in the northeastern part of the town, also on New York State Route 21.
- Jobs Corner – This hamlet is in the eastern part of the town. It is where County Roads 54 and 55 meet. Jobs Corner was the very first place where pioneers settled in the town.
- Seeley Creek – This is a small stream that flows into the Canisteo River. It is located in the southern part of the town.
- Stephens Mills – Another small community within the town.
