Friday Mountain is a mountain found in Ulster County, New York. It is a part of the famous Catskill Mountains. This mountain stands tall at 3,694 feet (1,126 meters) above sea level.
Friday Mountain has other mountains as neighbors. To its north, you'll find Cornell Mountain. To its south, it is next to Balsam Cap.

Exploring Friday Mountain
Friday Mountain is a key part of the Catskill landscape. Its slopes help feed important rivers.
Where the Water Flows
Water from Friday Mountain travels in different directions. On its southeast side, rain and snowmelt flow into Maltby Hollow Brook. This water then joins the Bush Kill. Eventually, it reaches the Ashokan Reservoir, then Esopus Creek, and finally the mighty Hudson River. From there, it flows into New York Bay.
The western slopes of Friday Mountain send their water into the East Branch of the Neversink River. This river is a major branch of the Delaware River. The Delaware River then flows into Delaware Bay.
A Challenge for Hikers
Friday Mountain is one of the 35 tallest peaks in the Catskill Mountains. These peaks are all higher than 3,500 feet (1,067 meters). Climbing Friday Mountain is a special challenge for hikers. It is required for anyone who wants to join the Catskill Mountain 3500 Club.
What makes it a challenge? There are no marked trails to the very top of Friday Mountain. Hikers must find their own way through the woods. This is called "bushwhacking." It means navigating through thick forests without a clear path.
Protecting the Mountain
Friday Mountain is located inside the Slide Mountain Wilderness. This wilderness area is part of Catskill State Park. These areas are protected to keep the natural environment safe. They help preserve the forests, wildlife, and beautiful scenery for everyone to enjoy.
