Gen Neo (Chinese: 梁根荣; Korean: 젠니오) was born on June 18, 1989. He is a talented Singaporean singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is currently based in South Korea and works with BAMM Entertainment.

Early Life and Education

Gen Neo grew up in Singapore. He went to Catholic High School and Victoria Junior College. After finishing school, he moved to South Korea to follow his dream of becoming a music producer and composer.

He studied at the famous Berklee College of Music. This is where he met his good friend and fellow musician, Henry Lau. They often work together on music projects.

Music Career

Gen Neo began his music journey in South Korea as part of a production group called NoizeBank. This group included Canadian musician Henry Lau, along with producers Isaac Han and Neil Nallas. Together, they created and produced songs for many popular artists. Some of these artists include Got7, Super Junior-M, Henry Lau, and f(x).

Gen Neo is also a trained singer with a special voice. In 2015, he officially started his singing career in Korea. His first song was called "Think About Us." He later left his first company, Mapps Entertainment, to create his own music label called BAMM.

In December 2016, he released his first Mandopop song, "Stop Sugar." Mandopop is a type of Chinese pop music. This song became very popular and reached number 12 on the iTunes Mandopop Charts. This was a big achievement, as he was charting alongside famous artists like JJ Lin and Jay Chou.

Gen Neo also worked with Amber Liu, a member of the group f(x). He was featured in her song "On My Own," which came out on May 18, 2016. Both Korean and English versions were released. This song was a hit, reaching number 11 on the Billboard World Digital Song charts.

In 2017, Gen Neo released his first mini-album, called an EP, named Dimensions. It had four songs. Later that year, he released another song, "Come With Me." He also teamed up with Fei, a former member of the group Miss A, for the song "Will You Won't You."

He continued to release new music, including "从今以后" in September 2018. He was also featured again on Amber Liu's song "Right Now." On December 31, 2019, he released the single "Over You."

Musical Influences

Gen Neo has shared that his music is greatly inspired by 90s R&B music. He also likes more recent artists, such as the Canadian hip hop artist, Drake. For Mandopop, artists like Jay Chou, Wang Leehom, David Tao, and Khalil Fong have also influenced his unique sound.
