Doh Kyung-soo (Hangul: 도경수), born on January 12, 1993, is a talented South Korean singer and actor. He is best known by his stage name D.O. (Hangul: 디오). D.O. is a popular member of the South Korean boy band Exo.
He started his solo music career on July 26, 2021, with his first mini-album, Empathy. Since then, he has released two more mini-albums: Expectation in 2023 and Blossom in 2024. His first full-length album, Bliss, was released on July 7, 2025.
As an actor, D.O. has starred in many TV shows and movies. Some of his well-known works include It's Okay, That's Love (2014), My Annoying Brother (2016), Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017), 100 Days My Prince (2018), Swing Kids (2018), and Bad Prosecutor (2022). Because of his great acting, the Korean Film Council chose him as one of the top 200 Korean actors.

Life and Career Highlights
Early Life and Joining EXO (1993–2015)
D.O. was born in Nonhyeon-dong, South Korea, on January 12, 1993. He grew up in Ilsandong District. He loved singing from a young age and often joined local singing contests in high school.
After winning one of these contests, he was encouraged to audition for SM Entertainment, a big entertainment company. He passed the audition and became a trainee during his last two years of high school.
D.O. was officially introduced as the eighth member of Exo on January 30, 2012. The group made their official debut on April 8 with their mini-album Mama.
In July 2013, D.O. was featured in the song "Goodbye Summer" by the group f(x). In September 2014, he started his acting career with a supporting role in the movie Cart. He played a high school student whose mother worked at a grocery store. He also sang a song for the movie called "Crying Out."
Later in 2014, D.O. appeared in his first TV drama, It's Okay, That's Love. He played a supporting role and received praise for his performance. In June 2015, he also appeared in the drama Hello Monster.
Becoming a Lead Actor and Military Service (2016–2020)
In January 2016, D.O. was chosen to be a voice actor for the animated movie Underdog, where he voiced a stray dog named Moongchi. In February 2016, he released a duet song called "Tell Me (What Is Love)" with Yoo Young-jin.
Later that month, D.O. took on his first main acting role in the romantic film Pure Love. In October 2016, he starred in the web drama Be Positive, which became very popular.
In November 2016, D.O. starred in the movie My Annoying Brother, playing a national Judo athlete. He and his co-star also sang the ending song for the movie, "Don't Worry." D.O. won the Best New Actor award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for this role.
In 2017, D.O. appeared in the comedy movie Room No.7. He also had a supporting role in the fantasy film Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, which was a big hit. In 2018, D.O. starred in Swing Kids, a movie about a North Korean soldier who loves tap dancing during the Korean War.
Later in 2018, he played his first main role in a TV drama, 100 Days My Prince, where he played a crown prince. This drama was very successful and became one of the highest-rated Korean dramas on cable TV.
Military Service
In May 2019, it was announced that D.O. would begin his mandatory military service in July. He confirmed this news with a handwritten letter to his fans. He joined the army as an active duty soldier on July 1, 2019. On the same day, he released a special song for his fans called "That's Okay."
After his training, he worked as a food handler in the army. In 2020, D.O. also took part in a military musical called Return: The Promise of the Day. He was officially discharged from the military on January 25, 2021.
Return to Acting and Solo Music (2021–Present)
Before he was discharged, it was announced in October 2020 that D.O. would star in the film The Moon. He played an astronaut stuck in space. The movie was released in August 2023.
In February 2021, he was cast as the main actor in Secret: Untold Melody, a Korean remake of a Taiwanese film. He played a piano genius in this movie, which was released on January 27, 2025.
On June 25, 2021, D.O.'s agency announced he would release his first solo album. His first mini-album, Empathy, came out on July 26, 2021, with the main song "Rose." D.O. helped write the lyrics for "Rose" and another song called "I'm Fine." The album was very popular.
In 2022, D.O. appeared in a travel show called Off The Grid, where he went on a solo road trip. He also returned to TV dramas in October 2022 with Bad Prosecutor, playing a unique prosecutor who fights for justice. He won an award for his excellent acting in this drama.
In 2023, D.O. joined a variety show called No Math School Trip. On September 1, 2023, his second mini-album, Expectation, was released.
On October 18, 2023, it was announced that D.O. would leave SM Entertainment for his solo activities and join a new company called Company SooSoo. However, he will continue to be an EXO member under SM Entertainment. In November 2023, he was confirmed to star in the Disney+ series The Manipulated.
On January 3, 2024, Company SooSoo confirmed that D.O. was preparing his third solo album. His third mini-album, Blossom, was released on May 7, 2024, with the song "Mars." He then started his "Bloom" fan concert tour across Asia, which began on June 8, 2024, in Seoul.
On April 11, 2025, Company SooSoo announced another tour for D.O. called "DO it!" This concert tour will begin on July 19, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea.
In June 2025, D.O. announced his first full-length studio album, titled Bliss, which was released on July 7, 2025.
