Wayne Lim Junjie (Chinese: 林俊傑; pinyin: Lín Jùnjié), known professionally as JJ Lin, is a famous singer, songwriter, and record producer from Singapore. He was born on March 27, 1981. JJ Lin is very popular in the Chinese-speaking world for his amazing singing, beautiful pop songs, and emotional way of performing.
He started his music journey by signing with Ocean Butterflies International in 2002. His first album, Music Voyager (2003), was a huge success, selling over 1.2 million copies across Asia! His second album, Haven (2004), also sold very well and included the hit song "River South." In 2007, JJ Lin started his own company called JFJ Productions.
JJ Lin has released many successful albums, with several selling over 1 million copies each. Some of his popular albums include She Says (2010) and Message in a Bottle (2017). He has also gone on five big concert tours, with his latest, the JJ20 World Tour (2022–2025), attracting over 2.6 million fans! He has won many awards, including four Golden Melody Awards, which are like the Grammys for Chinese music. Besides music, JJ Lin is also a businessman. He owns an esports team called Team SMG and a coffee shop chain called Miracle Coffee.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
JJ Lin grew up in Singapore in a Hokkien family. He went to Jing Shan Primary School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), and Saint Andrew's Junior College. His family had a big influence on his love for music. His mother had a background in Chinese classical music and owned a family karaoke chain. His older brother also encouraged him to pursue music.
Music Career Highlights
Starting Out: 2003–2006
After finishing his National Service, JJ Lin signed with Ocean Butterflies International. He released his first album, Music Voyager, in 2003 when he was 22. He quickly became known for his songwriting and singing. Before becoming a solo artist, he wrote over a hundred songs for other famous singers like A-Mei and Cyndi Wang. In 2004, he performed a special remixed version of "Home," the theme song for Singapore's National Day Parade.
Growing Fame: 2007–2009
In July 2007, JJ Lin set a Guinness World Record! He signed 3,052 CDs in just 2 hours and 30 minutes. That's super fast! In May 2008, he performed at a charity event for victims of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China. He also wrote a song called "Love and Hope" to remember the tragedy and donated a lot of money to help.
His sixth album, Sixology, came out in October 2008 and sold 280,000 copies in just one week. He also started his own fashion line called SMUDGE. In 2009, he won several awards, including "Top Local Artiste of the Year" in Singapore. He also won the Singapore Youth Award. For a short time in 2009, he had to take a break from singing because of health issues, but he recovered and released his seventh album, Hundred Days, in December 2009.
Continued Success: 2010–2013
JJ Lin performed in America for the first time in May 2010. He also performed with American singer Sean Kingston at the opening of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. His eighth album, She Says, was released in December 2010. His ninth album, Lost N Found, came out in December 2011.
In March 2013, he released his tenth-anniversary album, Stories Untold. This album came with a series of short films that told stories behind the songs. He worked with other artists like Ashin and his older brother Eugene Lim on this album. He also started his "Timeline" world tour in July 2013, beginning in Taipei, Taiwan.
Performances and Tours: 2014–2019
In 2015, JJ Lin helped write and perform the song "Dreams" for the Chingay Parade in Singapore. He also sang a duet with Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki for her music video "The Gift." That same year, he was chosen to sing "Our Singapore," the National Day Theme Song.
His album From M.E. to Myself was released in December 2015. One of its songs, "Twilight," is one of the most-watched Chinese music videos on YouTube, with over 162 million views! In 2016, he released "If Miracles had a Sound," a 96-minute documentary about making music.
In December 2017, JJ Lin released his album Message in a Bottle. He also announced his "Sanctuary" concert tour, which started in Shanghai in March 2018. In 2019, he released the song The Story of Us.
Recent Works: 2020–Present
In January 2020, JJ Lin released "I'll Stay With You," a song dedicated to the medical staff in Wuhan, China, who were helping patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2021, he released his first album with songs entirely in English, called "Like You Do." He even worked with English singer Anne-Marie on the song "Bedroom."
His fifteenth album, Happily, Painfully After, was released in April 2023. As of April 2025, NetEase Cloud Music announced that JJ Lin has the second-highest number of songs with over 100 million streams on their platform, with 65 songs! In July 2025, during his JJ20 World Tour in Beijing, he shared that he had been diagnosed with a heart condition in April 2024 and has been taking medication daily.
Other Ventures
Ambassadorships and TV Shows
JJ Lin has appeared in many advertisements for big brands like Sprite and Beats. He is also a tourist ambassador for Singapore, helping to promote his home country. In 2015, he became an advisor for Team Harlem Yu on the TV show The Voice of China. He also joined the variety show "Dream Voice" as a mentor for three seasons, helping new singers. In 2021, he performed a medley of songs from Disney movies to celebrate the launch of Disney+ in Singapore.
Business Career
In 2017, JJ Lin started his business career. He founded Team SMG, a professional esports team that competes in video games like Arena of Valor, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and Dota 2.
In July 2022, he teamed up with Kiat Lim and Elroy Cheo to create ARC, a digital community that uses special digital tokens called non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to confirm member profiles. In September 2022, he opened a pop-up café called Miracle Coffee at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore. A main Miracle Coffee shop is expected to open there in 2023.
