Girard is a city in Ohio, United States. It is located in Trumbull County, right next to the Mahoning River. In 2020, about 9,603 people lived there. Girard is just north of Youngstown. It is part of the larger Youngstown–Warren area.

History of Girard
Girard is thought to be named after Stephen Girard. He was a kind person from France and America. He started the Girard Bank and Girard College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
People first settled in Girard in 1800. But the city did not grow much at first. It started to grow after the Ohio and Erie Canal was finished.
