History of Grand Meadow
Grand Meadow was planned out in 1870. It got its name from the large, open grassy areas, called prairies, that were nearby when the town was first created.
Geography and Location
Grand Meadow is in the eastern part of Mower County. It's next to Grand Meadow Township on its west side and Frankford Township on its east side.
Minnesota State Highway 16 runs along the northern edge of the city. This highway can take you 7 miles west to Dexter or 9 miles east to Spring Valley. Austin, which is the main city of Mower County, is about 21 miles to the west.
The city covers about 0.68 square miles of land. There's no water area within the city limits. Grand Meadow is on a small hill. Water from the city flows northwest towards the South Fork of Bear Creek and southeast towards Deer Creek. These two creeks meet up in Fillmore to form the Middle Branch of the Root River. The Root River then flows into the mighty Mississippi River.

- Dome A is for older students, housing the junior and senior high.

- Dome C is the elementary dome, where students from Pre-K to 6th grade learn.
- Dome D is the athletics dome, which has the gymnasium, a wrestling room, and a weight room.
- Dome E is the arts dome, where you'll find the band room, art room, and a cafetorium (a room that's both a cafeteria and an auditorium).
Each dome has two purple stripes around it.
