Gressy used to be a small town, called a municipality, in the Vaud area of Switzerland. It was located in the Jura-Nord Vaudois district. On July 1, 2011, Gressy joined with the bigger town of Yverdon-les-Bains.

History of Gressy
Gressy was first mentioned in official papers in the year 1228. Back then, it was known by the name Grissie.
Geography and Land Use
Gressy covers an area of about 2.2 square kilometers (0.85 square miles). Most of this land, about 68.8%, is used for agriculture, like growing crops. Forests cover about 16.5% of the area. The remaining 13.8% of the land has buildings and roads. A very small part, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes.
Most of the built-up areas are for homes and other buildings. Roads and other ways to get around make up a good part of the settled land. In the forested areas, most of the land is covered with thick forests. Some smaller areas have orchards or groups of trees. The farmland is mostly used for growing crops and for pastures where animals graze. All the water in Gressy comes from flowing rivers and streams.
Gressy was once part of the Yverdon District. But that district was closed on August 31, 2006. After that, Gressy became part of the new Jura-North Vaudois District.
Gressy's Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Gressy has a special design. It shows a background of silver and blue stripes. Over these stripes, there is a wavy red band. On this red band, there are three gold circles. This design is called Pally Argent and Azure, overall on a Bend wavy Gules three Bezants.

As of 2009, Gressy had a population of 155 people. About 4.2% of these people were foreign nationals living there. Over ten years, from 1999 to 2009, the population of Gressy grew by 14%. This growth was mostly because more people moved into the town than moved out.
Most people in Gressy speak French as their main language. In 2000, about 96.4% of the people spoke French. A small number of people also spoke German or Spanish.
In 2009, Gressy had a mix of ages. About 11.6% of the population were children under 10 years old. Teenagers, aged 10 to 19, made up 16.8% of the population. Adults between 20 and 59 years old made up about 48.4% of the population. Older adults, aged 60 and above, made up about 22.5% of the population.

Important Historical Sites
One very important historical place in Gressy is the Oppidum De Sermuz. This was an ancient settlement from the Iron Age. It is listed as a special heritage site for Switzerland.
