Playing for His Country: South Korea National Team
Ha Seok-ju was a key player for the South Korea national football team. He represented his country in two major tournaments: the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
The 1998 World Cup Moment
In the 1998 World Cup, Ha Seok-ju played in the first game against Mexico. He scored the first goal of the match with an amazing free kick. However, just three minutes after his goal, he received a red card and had to leave the game. This was a tough moment for the team. After he left, South Korea gave up three goals.
Because of the red card, he could not play in the next game against the Netherlands. South Korea lost that match 5–0. He returned for the final group game against Belgium. In that match, he helped Yoo Sang-chul score an equalizing goal, again from a free kick. Ha Seok-ju was involved in both of South Korea's goals in the 1998 World Cup.
