Hanover is a city in the state of Minnesota, USA. It is located in both Wright County and Hennepin County. Most of Hanover is in Wright County, with only a small part in Hennepin County. In 2020, about 3,548 people lived there.
Even though part of Hanover is in Hennepin County, which is a large metropolitan area, the city is not managed by the Twin Cities Metropolitan Council.

History of Hanover
Hanover was first planned out in 1877. It was named after Hanover, a city in Germany. This was because some of the first people to settle here came from Germany. A post office opened in Hanover in 1877. The city officially became a town in 1891.
One important historical place in Hanover is the Hanover Bridge. This bridge was built in 1885 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as a special historical site.
Geography and Location
Hanover covers a total area of about 5.59 square miles (14.48 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water. A main road in the city is County Road 19.
The Crow River
Hanover is located along the Crow River. This river flows through the downtown area of the city. It also forms the border between Hennepin and Wright counties.
Nearby Cities and Towns
Hanover is close to several other cities and towns. These include St. Michael, Albertville, Rogers, Maple Grove, Corcoran, Greenfield, Rockford, Buffalo, and Montrose.
Interestingly, the famous singer Bob Dylan, who is from Minnesota, used to own a ranch near Hanover in Hennepin County.
Education in Hanover
Most students in Hanover attend schools in the Buffalo–Hanover–Montrose School District. The city has its own elementary school for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Middle and High School
After elementary school, students in grades 6-8 are taken by bus to Buffalo Community Middle School in Buffalo, Minnesota. Many elementary schools in the district follow this plan. The high school for the district is Buffalo High School, also located in Buffalo. This high school is well-known for its special arts program.
Some parts of Hanover are also in the St. Michael-Albertville (STMA) School District.

Hanover has grown quite a bit over the years. In 1900, there were only 259 people living there. By 2020, the population had grown to 3,548 people. This shows a significant increase in the number of residents over time.
Hanover Harvest Festival
The Hanover Harvest Festival is a fun event that happens every year. It takes place on the first weekend in August. The festival has many exciting activities for everyone.

Miss Hanover Royalty Program
The Miss Hanover Royalty Program started in 2009. It gives young women a chance to represent their community. To join the contest, participants must be high school seniors up to 22 years old. They also need to have gone to school in Hanover, lived in the area, or attended a local private school.
Contestants are judged on many things. These include their achievements, community involvement, club memberships, and future goals for education and careers. They are also judged on how they present themselves, their outfits, answers to interview questions, and speeches. Each year, two girls are chosen: Miss Hanover and Hanover Princess.
Miss Hanover might even get the chance to join the Aquatennial Queen of the Lakes Scholarship Program in Minneapolis. If Miss Hanover decides not to participate, the Princess can take her place.
