Helmetta is a small town, called a borough, in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It's in the Raritan Valley area, and the Manalapan Brook flows right through it. In 2020, about 2,455 people lived here. This was the most people Helmetta has ever had!
Helmetta started as a place around a factory in the 1820s. This factory was bought by George Washington Helme in the 1880s. The town officially became a borough on March 20, 1888. It was named after Helme's daughter, Olivia Antoinette "Etta" Helme.

In 1888, the people of Helmetta voted to become an official borough. This means they could have their own local government. The town was named after George Helme's daughter, Olivia Antoinette, who was called "Etta."

Helmetta has several roads that help people get around. The main road is Main Street (County Route 615). This road connects Helmetta to Monroe and Spotswood.
The New Jersey Turnpike (Interstate 95) is a big highway nearby. You can get on it at Exit 8A in Monroe Township.
Public Transportation
Middlesex County Area Transit (MCAT) offers bus services in and around Helmetta. The M2 Route connects Helmetta with nearby towns like Jamesburg and Spotswood. It also goes to the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick.
