Herr's is a popular American brand that makes yummy snacks like potato chips. The company, Herr Foods Inc., is based in Nottingham, Pennsylvania, U.S.. The Story of Herr's Snacks
How Herr's Began
It all started in 1946 when a young man named Jim Herr, who was 21, bought a small potato chip company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In the beginning, he only sold about thirty dollars worth of chips each week. That's like selling about $450 worth of chips today!
Growing and Changing with New Snacks
In 1958, Herr's started making potato chips with different flavors. This was a big step! Then, in 1974, they changed their packaging from old-fashioned glassine bags to shiny foil bags.
The 1970s and 1980s were a time when more and more people loved snack foods. Because of this, Herr's started making many new kinds of snacks. They added things like corn chips, tortilla chips, and pretzels to their yummy list.
A Family Business Continues
In the 1990s, Jim Herr began to let his sons, Ed Herr and J. M. Herr, take over the company. Ed became the main person who spoke for the company. In 2005, Jim Herr retired, and J. M. Herr became the executive chairman. Jim Herr stayed on the company's board until he passed away in 2012 at 87 years old. Today, Ed Herr is the president and CEO, and J. M. Herr is the executive chairman.

Herr's makes a huge variety of snacks! This includes potato chips, pretzels, tortilla chips, cheese curls, popcorn, and onion rings.
Lots of Potato Chip Flavors
As of 2016, Herr's had 37 different kinds of potato chips! They really like to make chips with strong and spicy flavors. Some of their exciting flavors include Ragin Ranch, Buffalo Blue Cheese, Old Bay, Horseradish, Baby Back Ribs, Kansas City Steak, Hot Sauce, and Jalapeño.
They also make classic flavors that everyone loves, like Barbecue, Kettle Cooked, Sour Cream & Onion, Cheddar & Sour Cream, Salt & Pepper, Ketchup, Habanero and Creamy Ranch, and Salt & Vinegar.
Special Chip Partnerships
In 2016, Herr's teamed up with Chickie's & Pete's, a sports bar from the Philadelphia area. Together, they released a new Crab Fries flavored potato chip. People loved the idea so much that the chips were released even faster than planned! Herr's has also made BBQ chips with Stubbs BBQ sauce.

Visit the Herr's Factory!
Herr's has a special Visitors' Center right next to their factory in Nottingham, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1989. You can take a tour with a guide who will show you around the Visitors' Center and even inside the real snack factory! The tours usually last about an hour. It's a fun way to see how your favorite Herr's snacks are made!
