Hillside Village is a large outdoor shopping center in Cedar Hill, Texas. It used to be called Uptown Village at Cedar Hill. This mall is about 615,000 square feet in size. That's like having more than ten football fields!
It is located near Dallas. You can find it where FM 1382 and U.S. Highway 67 meet. It's a fun place to shop and hang out.
History of Hillside Village
Work on Hillside Village began in June 2006. The mall officially opened its doors on March 12, 2008. It was the first mall to open in the "Best Southwest" area of Dallas County. This area includes cities like Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster.
Before Hillside Village, there was only one other mall in southern Dallas County. That was Southwest Center Mall in Dallas.
In July 2014, a company called Trademark Property Company bought the mall. They worked with another company to get money to make the mall better. They spent $38.3 million on these improvements.
The upgrades made it easier for people and cars to move around. They also added new signs and more plants. Public areas were also made nicer. In the spring of 2015, the mall changed its name. It went from Uptown Village to Hillside Village. This new name shows off the garden-like look of the renovated center. It also honors the community where it is located.

Mall Design
Hillside Village is not like a typical indoor mall. It was designed to feel like an old-fashioned town square. This style is called new urbanism. It means the mall is easy to walk around. It has buildings that look like they belong in a town.
Other shopping centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex have a similar design. These include Firewheel Town Center in Garland and Southlake Town Center in Southlake.
The mall has some cool features for visitors. There is a "Village Green" area. It has a stage where performances can happen. There is also a fun water fountain that kids can play in. You can find a children's play area that is 2,500 square feet. There is even a giant chess and checkers board for everyone to enjoy!
