Even though hot dogs are most popular in the United States, people eat them in many places worldwide. People in Japan eat a lot of hot dogs. The world's largest hot dog ever was made there.
In some countries, the name "hot dog" means a different sausage dish. For example, in New Zealand, a "hot dog" means a corn dog. People there call hot dogs "American hot dogs" instead.
