Hunchy is a small rural area located in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Australia. It is known as a "locality," which is like a small community or district. In 2021, about 592 people lived in Hunchy.

Exploring Hunchy's Geography
Hunchy is nestled in the foothills of the Blackall Range. This area was originally called "Hunchback."
Farming and Local Produce
Farming is a big part of life in Hunchy. Farmers grow many different crops here. You can find delicious fruits like pineapples, lychees, macadamias, mangoes, bananas, citrus, and avocados. A small amount of coffee beans are also grown.
Some people tried growing Shiraz grapes for wine a long time ago. However, the wine made from these grapes was not very famous. Besides crops, farmers also raise animals. These include cattle, alpacas, and honey-bees.
Hunchy's Past
Hunchy once had its own school! The Hunchy State School opened its doors on 18 August 1924. It was located at 53-61 Hunchy School Road. The school taught students for many years before it closed on 31 December 1969.
