A Look at Imbler's History
Imbler was officially planned and mapped out in 1891. This process is called "platting." At that time, another nearby town called Summerville was becoming less important. Imbler then grew to become the main town for the people living in the northern part of the Grande Ronde Valley. The city was officially incorporated, meaning it became a recognized town with its own local government, in 1922.
Where is Imbler Located?
Imbler is situated about 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of Summerville. You can find it where Summerville Road meets Oregon Route 82. This state highway helps connect Imbler to other cities. It goes southwest to La Grande and northeast to Elgin. The Grande Ronde River flows just a little to the east of the city.
