Jalen Da'Quan Carter (born April 4, 2001) is an American professional football player. He plays as a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL). A defensive tackle is a strong player who tries to stop the other team's offense. Before joining the NFL, Jalen played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a top player in college, winning two national championships. The Eagles chose him as the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Early Life and High School
Jalen Carter was born on April 4, 2001, in Apopka, Florida. He went to Apopka High School where he was a star football player. In his final year of high school, he made 12 sacks, which means he tackled the opposing team's quarterback 12 times. He also had 64 tackles and scored a touchdown. Jalen was considered one of the best high school players in the country. He decided to play college football at the University of Georgia.
College Football Career
Jalen started playing for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2020. In his first year, he played in eight games and made 12 tackles. He even caught a touchdown pass! In his second year, he played 12 games and had 31 tackles and three sacks. His great playing earned him a spot on the All-SEC team in 2021. That year, Georgia won the National Championship, beating Alabama. Jalen continued to play well, and Georgia won another National Championship in 2022. After this second championship, he decided to enter the NFL Draft.
Professional NFL Career
The Philadelphia Eagles picked Jalen Carter as the ninth player overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. This was a big moment for him!
Jalen played his first NFL game on September 10, 2023, against the New England Patriots. In that very first game, he got his first career sack by tackling quarterback Mac Jones. Later in the season, during a game against the Dallas Cowboys, Jalen showed his amazing skills. His teammate, Fletcher Cox, knocked the ball loose from quarterback Dak Prescott. Jalen quickly picked up the ball and ran 42 yards to score his first NFL touchdown!
In his first year as a rookie, Jalen played in 16 games. He had six sacks, 33 tackles, and forced two fumbles. He was named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team, which means he was one of the best new players in the league. In 2024, Jalen was chosen for his first Pro Bowl, which is a special game where the best players from the NFL play against each other.
